Dit is een legendarische Single Malt whiskey uit Schotland. Het is sinds 2010 in mijn collectie. Het is altijd bewaard in totale duisternis en op een constante temperatuur. Deze fles is ongeopend en nog steeds verzegeld. 

Smaakprofiel (ENG) 

Nose: Aromatic, inviting, and comforting, the nose of The Glenlivet 18 Years Old offers a symphony of scents, introducing itself gracefully. Initial impressions reveal honeyed undertones, reminiscent of golden nectar drizzled over hot crumpets. Gradually, faint traces of dried fruit emerge, evoking memories of walnuts soaked in port wine, raisins plucked from a sun-warmed bunch, and candied orange peels nestled inside a Christmas stocking. Nuances of soft leather contribute a dash of earthiness, tempering the sweetness and hinting at the whisky's age and complexity. Light wisps of heathery smoke dance around these richer elements, teasing the senses rather than overwhelming them.

Taste: The first sip ushers in waves of creaminess, enveloping the tongue in a blanket of smooth textures and flavors. Honeyed sweetness persists, taking center stage as the liquid glides effortlessly across the tongue. This initial burst of sugary goodness dissolves into more subdued, yet no less delightful, impressions of almond butter, toffee, and mocha latte. Dashes of sherry interplay within this melange, lending their own succulence and richness to the mix. Amidst these sweeter aspects, there's a whisper of smoky character, similar to the wisp of bonfire embers left behind after a crackling fire dies down. These gentle, subtle whiffs of peat do little to disrupt the overall balance, providing a subtle contrast to enhance the taste experience. The finish lingers, leaving behind a satisfying, warming sensation.

Finish: Following the final swallow, The Glenlivet 18 Years Old leaves behind a harmonious collection of impressions that complement one another well. A slightly dry, almost nutty quality prevails, similar to a bowl of unsalted mixed nuts just out of the oven. Subtler echoes of charred wood and a faint floral note surface briefly before subsiding. Despite these fleeting moments, the underlying creaminess and delicate sweetness persist, ensuring the finish remains mellow and enjoyable until the next sip.
