Dit is een topper van Bowmore dat sinds 2012 in mijn bezit is. Het is zeldzaam en bijna onmogelijk te vinden. Het is altijd bewaard in totale duisternis en op een constante temperatuur. Deze fles is ongeopend en nog steeds verzegeld. 

Smaakprofiel (ENG)

Nose: Fragrant, coastal Islay style with pronounced peaty elements and maritime characteristics, evoking memories of salty seashores and heathery hillsides:

• Powerful and earthy aroma, redolent of seaweed, kelp, and briny ocean air, reminding you of Islay's rugged shoreline.
• Pronounced iodine-like note with medicinal bandages, probably stemming from the region's peaty water source and traditionally floor-malted barley.
• Coastal smoke and bonfire embers, displaying Bowmore's signature balanced peating level, positioning itself somewhere between Highlands and Ardbeg or Laphroaig in terms of phenol content.

Palate: Full-flavored and rich, boasting an intriguingly layered profile often associated with Bowmore malts bottled before their recent rebranding initiatives:

• Thick, velvety mouthfeel, enhancing the sense of depth and complexity present in each sip.
• Initial sweetness from tropical fruit, including ripe bananas, guavas, and papayas, complemented by mellow honey and toffee notes, representing the influence of first-fill Bourbon barrels during aging.
• Developing waves of moderate heat and spice, featuring ginger snap cookies, white pepper, and a sprinkling of ground allspice, due to the addition of ex-Oloroso Sherry butts for additional depth and dimension.

Finish: Continuously developing finish, showcasing the character of both the maturation process and the distillate's origin:

• Lasting afterglow of gentle peat smoke, fading away slowly, revealing the underlying oak's contribution to the overall harmony.
• Faint touches of saltwater taffy or caramelized sugar, adding a bittersweet aspect that keeps things interesting and prevents the experience from becoming too monochromatic.
• Evolving hints of damp wool, cigar boxes, and leather, signaling the integration of well-seasoned European Oak sherry casks into the mix, resulting in a multi-layered and dynamic conclusion.
